From Deck to Dining Room: Rilynn Todd Charts a New Culinary Course
For Rilynn Todd, life on the water wasn’t just about navigating open seas, it was about finding her true direction. After years working in yachting, she was no stranger to high standards, global flavors, and fast-paced environments. But when it came time to drop anchor and pursue her next big adventure, Rilynn set her sights on the kitchen.
Drawn to the accelerated pace and hands-on learning environment, Rilynn chose NOCHI to sharpen her skills and deepen her knowledge. “It’s a fast program, and I didn’t want to spend another two years in school,” she shared. “I wanted to gain more knowledge and get moving.”
Her favorite part so far? Exploring international cuisines. “I loved learning about different types of food from around the world. It brought me right back to my time on yachts,” Rilynn said. “Each culture has its own story to tell through food.”
But the program hasn’t been without its challenges. “One of the hardest things has been learning to get along with so many different personalities,” she said with a laugh. “It’s been a great reminder that teamwork is just as important in the kitchen as it is on a boat.”
Looking ahead, Rilynn has her eyes on the horizon. She dreams of opening her own business and working as a private chef, perhaps even back on the water. “NOCHI has helped me build a solid foundation,” she said. “Now I feel ready to explore all kinds of cuisines and really set my own standards.”
Whether she’s plating in port or prepping at sea, Rilynn Todd is cooking with purpose and always charting a course toward something bold and flavorful.
